Our chief photographer, Tim Simos was born, raised and educated in the Northeastern United States.  He has studied natural and marine sciences and earned a B.S. degree from Stockton University in Pomona, New Jersey.

Tim is often asked how he ended up in this line of work.  The abbreviated reply goes something like this: “I have pursued competitive bass fishing since age 15, bringing out a natural curiosity into their behavior and environment. This led to me entering their world to study and photograph bass in their natural environment and to learn more about their habits.  I have always been fascinated by the beauty contained in the underwater world”.  Having fished in saltwater since age four, Tim’s natural curiosity progressed into the marine environment to study all sport fish. “I have learned that one thing is predictable about the fish I study, that is they don’t all behave the same at the same time.  They are for the most part unique and often unpredictable individuals.”

With over two decades of photo/SCUBA experience, Tim prefers skin-diving whenever possible, as SCUBA bubbles frighten fish. His extensive knowledge of animal and fish behavior assists him in capturing his subjects on film in the natural environment, not in tanks. Tim's artistic talents as an award-winning taxidermist surfaced again in the world of underwater photography when he received an award from OCEAN REALM magazine, and The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).

Calm clear waters aid Tim in working in his out of doors studio. The Northeast, the Caribbean, Florida and Central America are where most of his work is accomplished. Tim's unique underwater lure photos are a reflection of his photographic philosophy. " Look at and approach subjects from a different angle and you will see the unique beauty in everything.”
